Van Cleef & Arpels

Van Cleef & Arpels is a French company that manufactures jewellery, watches and perfumes. It was founded in 1896 by a man by the name of Alfred Van Cleef and his uncle. The company was and is still today based in Paris. They have become famous for a style that is very ornate and beautiful. The design of the products often includes depictions of flowers, animals and fairies, for example. Something that increased their status further is that several famous style icons worn their products over the years. Some examples are Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and the deposed Iranian queen Farah Pahlavi.

The first perfume was launched in 1976 and was given the aptly named First Parfum. It was directed to women and smelled of aldehyde, honey and clove. The first perfume directed to men was launched in 1978 and was named Van Cleef & Arpels pour Homme. This perfume scented leather, rose and moss. Since then, the company has released a wide range of perfumes. One of their collections is called Feerie. What is special about the collection is that each perfume bottle is decorated with a magically beautiful fairy in silver or gold. The main perfume Feerie from 2008 scents of Violet, blackcurrant and lingonberry. The blue bottle is adorned with a lid that is built further in the form of a bough, whereupon it sits an adorable little fairy.
